19/10/2015

Hello,

Today I did my proposal for my news package, where I talked about what my news package would be about and what would be in my news package, vox pops, PTC (Piece to Camera) and where I will be filming the locations, what the budget would be.

Practical Work - News Package

15/10/2015

Hello

Today we went out and did vox pops which are what they use in news packages where we talk to the public and ask them what there thoughts and views are on a certain subject. We had to go out in groups of threes and ask questions on a topic we were given ours was 'What is cool at the moment?'.
The vox pops had to be very short about 30 seconds and if they were any longer try to be polite and ask them to stop and move on. We had to get used to being rejected as a majority of people did not want to be on camera and that was fine. We managed two vox pops each, 6 altogether enough to get a lot of footage to edit and practice.

Practical Work - Debate

13/10/2015

Hello

Today we went into the TV studio to see how we would set up our debate and what layout we would use when it came to filming the debate, we all had different roles someone on the actually panels debating some people on the cameras and sound while the others were in the gallery with all the control of whats on screen. We discussed on how would set up a debate show and what kind of equipment we would need for our debate show. We also after debating had a session on what our debate would actually be about and what script we would use and the sounds and backdrops we would use for the show.

Theory Work - News Package

Hello

Today we researched and looked at what we could do for news package. We looked at different types of news packages and looked at different types of genres and what are the different conventions of each one. The conventions of a PTC (Peace to camera) where the presenter talks directly to the camera, usually at the beginning and the end. 1 main interview 30-40 seconds, B-Roll, cut away shoots help tell the story. Vox Pop, the public's short response to a question, Good sound, Text used to introduce the presenter and interviewee. Noddies, just nodding as the response.

Theory Work - News Package

Hello,
Today we learnt 3 terms which will be crucial to learn for our news package, about target audience,

Demographic = Basic Information, like your age and gender for me it would be 16-18 and male, it would be all different depending on what age and gender or the type of product or program you are making.

Psycho-graphic = This is categorizing someone by there hobbies or interest like stereotyping, so if you  like one thing your meant to like another thing.

Socio-Ecomic = This categorizing someone by the amount of money they have, what class you are, upper, middle or lower class, then they would base it around that.

We also looked at two different news programs showing the conventions of a news package,

Newsround =
Its a children's program so its not meant to be as serious but it uses some words that someone very young may not understand so the target audience may be 5-12 year old's, the program was about penguins, which may interest a majority of children male or female, also it uses brighter colors to keep children interested also the cameras never stopped moving and the interviews were kept short so they didn't lose the interest, children may have short attention spans.

Brass eye =
This was a comedy show which used the style of a news package to get there point across, the comedy was definitely meant for older people so 18+ also it used lots of dark colors to show that its more for adults. You could also say that its meant for a middle class or lower down classes as they are using posh people in it making fun of them as there the easiest to make fun of.
